Threading: Frequently Asked Questions :)
Threading Q & A
Q: What is threading?
Threading works by rolling a 100% antiseptic cotton thread over the skin and removing the hair from the root. This ancient art originated in Asia thousands of years ago.
Q. Does it hurt?
A. For those who haven’t experienced threading before and are a little scared there is no need! 100% of clients who were new to threading couldn’t believe how easy it was & how much less it hurt than waxing. There is no flinch waiting for the pull of the wax strip and no stinging sensation afterwards.
The area threaded will be a little pink for a short time post-treatment, but this is completely normal after hair removal from the follicle.
Q: I usually wax. Why should I choose threading over waxing?
A: Threading is the better choice for the removal of facial hair because it is much gentler and can be performed on even the most sensitive of skins. No patch test, no allergic reactions, no sticky residue & most importantly no pulling of the skin. Expect a more precise & defined brow shape.
Here’s the science! When you wax eyebrow and lip areas you are not only removing hair but also a layer of skin. Over time brows will begin to sag & wrinkles will seem more pronounced in the lip area. The beauty of threading is that hair is removed from the root but the skin is not pulled, thereby reducing the chance of wrinkles with age. Win, win! 🙂
Q: How long does it last?
A: Threading lasts the same length of time as waxing. This of course varies from person to person as hair growth is different for everyone. The average time is between 2 & 4 weeks. The general consensus is that the more often the hair is removed from the root, the lighter it will grow back over time.
Q: Are there any disadvantages to threading?
A: Feedback from clients is and has been completely positive. The only disadvantage (if you could even call it that) is the time factor. Threading does take a little longer than waxing as it is more intricate & can depend on how untidy the brow area is and how much definition the client wants. The removal of blond hair on the upper lip can take a while as it is extremely strong & notably difficult to see.
